Another Shooting Saturday Night

At least one person was reportedly shot in the chest and the stomach on Warner Street Saturday night, according to police. Their condition isn't yet known.

 

At least one person was shot Saturday night on Warner Street, just around the corner from Southern Connecticut State University.

Police cars lined the road and neighbors gathered in front of their homes as detectives and cops investigated. The road was closed around the area of 42 Warner St. across from Congregation Beth El Cemetery, where the shooting was reported to have occured.

"We had just gotten home from Derby and we heard that someone was shot in the chest and the stomach," one man said as he stood in his front yard with several other people around 11:30 p.m.

No one knew exactly what had happened, nor did anyone report hearing any gunshots.

Police released no details Saturday night about the incident other than to confirm that at least one person had been shot. Their condition was not known, a detective said at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to reports, the victim is a teenager and suspect is a "small black man" who fled in the direction of Fitch Street after the shooting. There was no word late Saturday night if police had caught him.

This is the second shooting in less than a month. On Aug. 11, . Police arrested a juvenile less than 24 hours later and charged him with felony murder.
