Former Ganim Aide Arrested on Sex Assault Charges

Served three months in federal prison in 2003 for taking contract kickbacks.

A New Haven man who served time in connection with the Bridgeport corruption case that sent former Mayor Joseph Ganim to prison has been arrested here on charges he sexually assaulted a minor.

On Monday Detective Raymond Quinn of the U.S. Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Patrick Coyne at his residence, 806 Edgewood Ave. in New Haven. 

Coyne, 51, was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held in lieu of $300,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in April 18.

Coyne was Ganim's chief of staff and headed that city's Clean and Green program when he was convicted of taking kick-backs stemming from an asbestos removal contract. He served three months in federal prison in 2003.

Coyne was one of six people, including Ganim, who ultimately were convicted and served time in the federal corruption probe that investigated Ganim's administration a decade ago.

Coyne's most recent arrest in Hamden was the result of a three-month investigation by Det. Stephen Rossacci and Det. Scott Levenduski of the , according to department spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Ronald Smith said Tuesday that no other details could be released other than the incident took place in Hamden and involved a youth under age 16.
