Summer Discovery at SHA

Summer means sitting back, soaking up the sun, and finally having time to explore your own interests. Why not take the time to discover new subjects, develop skills in and out of the classroom, or improve your technique on the field?

Girls in middle school are invited to take part in Summer Discovery at Sacred Heart Academy. With enrichment courses taught by Sacred Heart faculty and sports clinics led by certified coaches, Summer Discovery is the perfect opportunity for middle school aged girls to learn,develop, and create in a fun, safe, and caring atmosphere.

Offerings include:

• Mock Trial: Are you an aspiring attorney or fascinated by courtroom dramas? Come prepare a simulated court case with your legal team, learn about the trial process, and argue your case before a “judge.” No experience necessary. Minimum class size: 10. Offered in all sessions.
• So  you want to be a leader? Learn about what it takes to be a leader. Class begins with discovering your gifts and moves into putting those gifts into action. The week will be spent creating a non-profit business from mission statement to opening event. put your talents and creativity to work. Offered in sessions 1 and 2 only.
• Got energy?  An exploration of alternative energy Sources: You will perform experiments to learn about alternative energy sources, including wind and solar, and investigate how waste materials can be renewed and utilized. Offered in all sessions. Students may enroll in one, two, three or four sessions. Class size is 8-20 students (except where noted.)

The Enrichment Class schedule (for girls entering grades six through eight):

Session 1:  July   9-13, from  8 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Session 2:  July   9-13, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Session 3:  July 16-20, from  8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Session 4:  July 16-20, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Sports clinics will be held on topics including cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, track and field and volleyball.

The Sports Clinics schedule (for girls entering grades five through eight):

Session 1:  July 9-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Session 2:  July 16-20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
