West Haven Man Charged with Intimidating Witness
He allegedly sent a text with a picture of a gun to a woman who has previously filed criminal charges against him, according to police.
A West Haven man was arrested Wednesday on charges he tried to intimidate a woman who had filed a criminal complaint against him.
The woman, a 41-year-old West Haven resident, was in Hamden on Dec. 3 of last year when the man sent her a text message that included a picture of a gun, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith of the Hamden Police Department.
"Investigation revealed that the victim had filed an earlier criminal complaint to the New Haven Police Department against Ruben Jimenez," Smith said.
The investigating officer, Officer Beatriz Montijo, then applied for a warrant for Jimenez's arrest, and he was taken into custody Wednesday at Meriden Superior Court.
Jiminez was charged with intimidating a witness, threatening, harassment and breach of peace. He was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court Wednesday and is due back in court Feb. 29.
On Dec. 7 of last year New Haven police charged Jiminez with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He is due in court on those charges Feb. 24.
