Dr. Brian L. Evans, Hamden Periodontist, Receives Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service,
Hamden periodontist Brian L. Evans, D.D.S., M.S. was honored by the United States Navy earlier this month for completion of five years of reserve duty after his initial 3 years active duty.
Among the decorations Lieutenant Commander Evans earned and received was the National Defense Service Ribbon and Commendation Medal. Presented by Admiral Cullison in 2007 was the Commendation Medal for his meritorious service in the superior performance of his duties as a staff periodontist while serving active duty in Norfolk, VA July, 2004 through July, 2007.

Lieutenant Commander Evans provided in excess of $2 million in billable treatment to active duty patients and provided expert mentorship to 21 dental residents.
“Lieutenant Commander Evans' managerial ability, professional ability and loyal devotion to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.”

Dr. Evans and Dr. Barry J. Weiss make up the periodontist team at Advanced Periodontics. Both doctors are two of only three periodontists licensed in the State of Connecticut to administer intravenous conscious sedation.
Both are diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology, and members of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association and New Haven County Dental Association (Dr. Weiss is a past president of the NHCDA).
