Legendary Announcer Jerry Kristafer Joins WJMJ Radio

Longtime radio morning star Jerry Kristafer is joining WJMJ, the FM Catholic radio station operated by the Archdiocese of Hartford since 1976. WJMJ (88.9/Hartford, 93.1/Hamden, 107.1/New Haven) broadcasts to northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts and is also distributed around the world through streaming audio on the Internet.

Jerry Kristafer will host mornings on WJMJ from 5:30 to 10 starting Monday November 4th, playing a unique mix of uplifting music and motivational messages, and connecting to listeners with a variety of songs and shared experiences culled from Kristafer’s 44 years on the air.

“This is a new and completely different mix for me,” notes Kristafer. “I’ve done talk-radio and all kinds of music formats, so this show is going to make use of all that experience. We’ll have a great time each morning. I’m looking forward to re-connecting with loyal listeners and making new friends, too.”

Kristafer has worked since 1977 in Connecticut, hosting morning shows on the state’s most popular radio stations.

WJMJ, known for its slogan “Where Faith Meets Life,” is a non-commercial station, run by the Office of Radio and Television of the Archdiocese of Hartford and headed by Father John Gatzak. Its mission is to serve the community through faith-filled inspiration, education and public involvement.

“With Jerry’s history as a concerned and committed activist involved with an array of charitable causes, we are thrilled with the potential to combine his good works and the station’s mission to play a significant role in people’s lives,” notes Father John Gatzak, WJMJ’s General Manager. “Entertaining talk, your favorite songs and community service --- I think it’s going to be a great program that really makes a powerful difference to our listeners.”

Kristafer fills a slot left empty when Bruce Stevens departed WJMJ to return to his hometown in Maine.

Around the clock, WJMJ offers value-oriented programming including inspirational and classical music programs, local, state, national, international and religious news, plus educational and public affairs programs.

The station begins its fall fundraising Radio-thon on Thursday, November 7 through Monday, November 11.  All contributions to WJMJ are tax deductible to the fullest extent of current tax laws.
