Quality is Top Priority

On March 23, 2013, students from the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden earned their new ranks. There were children and junior adults from Hamden, New Haven and North Haven in the belt promotion. Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, a 5th Degree Black Belt Instructor and Test Administrator worked with the students and evaluated their performance. “The testing process at the Academy is to evaluate the students’ performance to insure that they are able to perform their Martial Arts movements as well as show an understanding of their techniques and how they apply in a self defense situation,” said Ciarleglio. The quality of training starts with the instructor and what they expect from their students. “The expectations from the students at the Academy are high; I believe that nothing less than their best is acceptable. With that expectation the student continues to grow and become better,” Ciarleglio continued. All of the programs at the Academy (children, teens and adults) revolve around self-defense and staying healthy in mind and body. The children’s program is also a character development program. “The Instructors at the Academy work as a team member with the families and educators of the children to help the children grow into strong well-rounded adults.” said Ciarleglio. The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts would like to congratulate these students for their achievements. Adult Ranks (adults and teens): Purple Belt – Doug Bisciglia and Blue Belts - Poy Sai and Arya Sayadi. Junior Ranks (four years old thru ten years old): Junior Yellow Belt – Cadence Arnold. Junior Orange Belt – Mason Battle, Hailey Ciarleglio, Khaliyah Kelly and Azza Rizmi. Junior Purple Belt – Areli Jimenez and Carlos Oyuela, Junior Blue Belts - Sam Cohen and Eyad Salem and Junior Green Belt with Stripe – Gabriella Rodriguez.
