Rosa DeLauro in Hamden re United Healthcare debacle.

Meeting yesterday in Hamden. As part of the Affordable Care Act, the government cut by 14% what it was contributing to underwrite Medicare Advantage programs—even though these programs reduce the overall cost of healthcare. DeLauro, at the Hamden Government Center meeting, stated “There is no reason they should get 14% more than traditional Medicare for essentially the same services. It’s all about profit.” Of COURSE it’s all about profit.

And, contrary to DeLauro’s deliberately deceptive, inaccurate misinformation, the whole point of a Medicare Advantage policy is that it covers additional services. Innumerable studies have shown that these extra services have helped keep the overall cost of healthcare down. So when a company like United realizes that—because of ObamaCare cuts, they will lose money—they pull out to keep their company from folding.

But here’s MORE news that DeLauro doesn’t want seniors to know—until AFTER November elections:

Last month Health and Human Services announced a fresh round of ADDITIONAL cuts to ALL Medicare Advantage policies. Next year, these plans will see their payments cut by an additional 2 to 3 ½ %. This will lead to premium increases and reduced benefits for seniors—and even MORE insurance companies will drop hospitals and physicians from their policies.

30% of Medicare enrollees currently participate in Medicare Advantage. So remember, seniors:  by voting for ObamaCare, DeLauro deceived you by supporting and voting for these cuts—but she hopes you won’t remember.
