Annual Maple Sugaring Open House at Brooksvale Park

Learn the art of making real maple syrup.

Join the staff and volunteers at Brooksvale Park for their Annual Maple Sugaring Open House on Saturday, March 5. Learn how the sap from the Sugar Maple trees at the park is turned into something sweet to eat.

There will be two sessions that day -- the  first at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.

The 90-minute program covers the history of Sugarin’ from Native American times to the present day and changing technologies, complete with a short walk into the sugar bush and a visit to the park’s sugar shack.

There is no fee to attend the workshop but pre-registration is a must. Email or call the park to let them know how many are coming and to which session. You will be contacted if the session you choose is already full.

School age children enjoy this program, toddlers and babies in strollers usually don’t. Please be aware that part of this program means going outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather that day. Heavy rain cancels the program. If unsure, call the park for a message before heading out.
