Book Drive to Collect Hundreds of Books for Students

The Read to Score Project partners with Hamden Youth Hockey to collect books for the students of Fair Haven School.

 

The Read to Score Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children in need with access to free books, will host its first annual McKeon Holiday Tournament Book Drive in partnership with the Hamden Youth Hockey Association.

Between Dec. 26 to Dec. 31, donations new or gently used books to The Read to Score Project will be collected at the on Mix Avenue. All books collected will be donated to the students of Fair Haven School in New Haven.

Monday, Dec. 26 to Saturday, Dec, 31 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Read to Score Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children in need with access to free books. Its goal is to encourage youth sports participants and their families to gather new and used books and to get these books into the hands of school children that desperately need them.

By engaging youth sports organizations, the Read to Score Project also hopes to introduce young athletes to community service. For more information about the Read to Score Project go its Facebook page.

The Hamden Youth Hockey Association is a nonprofit youth hockey organization dedicated to providing boys and girls throughout Hamden and the Greater New Haven area with the opportunity to learn and play the game of hockey.

Its mission is to encourage the character, mental and physical benefits derived from sports in general and hockey in particular.

But Kudos to the teachers who put their students above their own financial situation. The Town and parents should be footing the costs, not the teachers.
