Hamden CERT Training Starts Feb. 13

Applications for the newest session will be accepted through Feb, 5 for those wishing to volunteer to join the town's emergency response team.

 

The Hamden Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be conducting a Basic nine-week Training Course starting on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at the Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden.

Classes will be conducted once a week at 7 p.m. and attendance at all classes is mandatory. Classes will be approximately two and one half hours.

This course will be open to anyone over the age of 18 who has an interest in helping the Hamden community during emergencies and pre-planned community events.

The training will consist of basic first aid, light search and rescue techniques, fire extinguisher training, traffic safety, along with the goals and protocols of the Nationally Recognized CERT Program.

Applications will be available at the Fire Chiefs Office or by contacting the Hamden CERT Program Coordinator, Robert Freeman at bobfree216@yahoo.com.

Applications must be received at the Office of the Fire Chief no later than February 5th.
