Hamden Elks Mark Flag Day with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts

The rainy Flag Day did not hinder the Hamden Elks Lodge #2224 from proceeding with their annual Flag Day Ceremony.

Originally scheduled to take place at the Veteran’s Memorial, the Flag Day Ceremony was held in the Lodge upper hall. The event included Officers of Hamden Lodge. Local Girl Scout Troops 60228, 64179, 60137 and Boy Scout Troop 610, who presented the history of our nation’s flag with replicas of each historical flag and then demonstrated the flag folding ceremony. The history of our nation's military endeavors in defense of liberty was recited.

Hamden Town Clerk Vera Morrison addressed the audience as guest speaker.

Elks Lodges across the nation and its territories are mandated to celebrate Flag Day, which was initiated by the National Elks.
