Hamden Woman Elected to UCONN Alumni Association Board

Mikki Meadows-Oliver of Hamden, a member of the class of '06, is one of three new board members.

A Hamden woman is among those who will serve on the University of Connecticut Alumni Association Board of Directors for fiscal year 2011-2012.

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Alumni Association and is elected by its members.

Mikki Meadows-Oliver of Hamden, a member of the class of ’06, is one of three new board members, including Liana Fresher ’85, of Manchester and Alicia Young ’95, of Port Chester, NY. are new members of the Board.

Re-elected board members, who will serve until 2014, are Eric Judge ’87, ofWindsor; Francis Onofrio, ’81, of Kensington and David Sturgess, ’78, of Wethersfield.

Adam Apicella ’12, of Clinton, president of the Student Alumni Association, has been appointed to serve a one-year term as Student Representative.

On June 4,  board members elected the following officers for the 2011-2012 fiscal year: Dennis Cavanaugh ’78, of Glastonbury, President; Frank Milone ’92, of Amston, Immediate Past President; David Sturgess ’78, of Wethersfield, President-Elect; Laura Cahill ’84, of Glastonbury, Secretary, and Lori Riiska ’84, of Winsted, Treasurer.

All board members are elected to serve a three-year term and may be re-elected to serve for an additional consecutive term. Officers of the board are elected annually in June and serve for one year.

“I am excited to have such an experienced board that will bring their time and talents to our organization,” says Lisa Lewis, Executive Director of Alumni Relations. “I am confident that they will represent the UConn Alumni Association’s mission and help us continue on our path to success.”
