Honeywell Employees Rehab Hamden Firehouse

Honeywell of Northford is donating 700 volunteer hours and $10,000 to rehab the old building on Circular Avenue that serves are Station 2.

 In the midst of cleaning up after superstorm Sandy, Hamden Firehouse #2 in on Circular Avenue will be renovated by 40 Honeywell volunteers and Rebuilding Together Providence, R.I.

Improvements will happen in two phases: on Saturday, Honeywell volunteers worked on repairing the exterior and interior of the firehouse, and on Nov. 17 the kitchen will be renovated.

On Saturday several dozen Honeywell employee volunteers were working replacing trim, cleaning, painting and weatherizing the firehouse, painting the exterior trim and fire escape, and creating an eating area with picnic tables where the fire fighters can grill outdoors.

Contractors will work to improve the heating system efficiency and install a state of the art fire alarm system in the facility, including the installation of carbon monoxide detectors, smoke & heat detectors and notification appliances.

On Nov. 17, contractors will do a total renovation of the kitchen including the installation of new kitchen cabinets, counters, appliances, plumbing and lighting.
