"Jackson for Hamden" to Collect Food at Brooksvale Festival

Will be on hand at the annual Brooksvale Fall Festival Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mayor Scott Jackson and the Jackson for Hamden Committee will be collecting food to support the Hamden Food Bank Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the .

The Committee also will be on hand to accept food donations on Oct. 29 at Stop & Shop at the corner of Putnam and Dixwell avenues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"While we talk to residents about the election this fall, one of the messages that I have been focusing on is helping our community," Jackson said. "This effort allows us to do good deeds to help Hamden while we campaign - because there is no reason not to work to help the community in real time while we talk about how to continue improving it in the coming years through government."

This effort will be in cooperation with many Democratic candidates for office who have offered to help. The initiative is part of the re-election committee's "Giving Back to the Community" effort, which will include food collections, a neighborhood clean-up day, a graffiti removal operation and other charitable or neighborhood assisting activities.
