March Madness, Hamden Style

Next Friday Hamden Youth Services will host its own version of the popular rite of spring.

The Hamden Youth Services Bureau will host Hamden Youth Center's very own March Madness on Friday, March 30 from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the gym of the Hamden Board of Education, 60 Putnam Ave. (please use the entrance in the back of the building).

Admission is free for the Hamden Youth Center's annual event and this year will include an open house, basketball games (Youth and Fire vs. Youth and Police), performances by Hamden Youth Center's talent and display of youth artwork.

A DJ from Hallah Entertainment will keep the crowd entertained throughout the evening. Refreshments will be served, provided by Sorrentos, Pizza Choice and the Hamden High School Culinary Department.

Volunteers from Quinnipiac University’s Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Kappa Psi Chapter and Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, Eta Xi Chapter will be raffling prizes. All proceeds will directly benefit The Hamden Youth Center.

Hamden’s March Madness is designed to bring together a diverse audience from the town of Hamden to share in the positive fellowship of our youth. Youth participating in the event are members of the Youth Center’s after-school program, which is currently located at the Board of Education Building. The after-school program offers year round quality programming including basketball, field trips, leadership activities, arts, tutoring, and positive peer relations.

The staff and youth of the Hamden Youth Center urge you and your families to come out and support our program at this exciting event. For additional information, please contact Susan Rubino, Youth Services Coordinator at 203-777-2610 ext. 120 (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) or srubino@hamden.com  or Chris Wilson, Program Director at 203- 288-5333 (3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.) or cwilson@hamden.com

Check out the CVS parking lot when the High School lets out. I've seen "Daddy" picking upRead More little "Johnny" in a Town owned car. We know it was tax money paying for the gas, just hope it was lunch time. I thought the Town was cracking down on inappropriate use of vehicles. I hope not many have use of a car on Sunday, and sure hope they were on Town duty. Yes, Angela, sadly you are right, nothing will change, but there is always a chance maybe someone will listen.

CORRUPTION- IS MORE LIKE IT. GRAFT, UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR VOTING HABITS - AS ENSTEIN SAID- DOINGRead More THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT IS INSANITY. THAT IS THE VOTING HERE IN HAMDEN- INSANE THAT PEOPLE CONTINUE TO VOTE DEMOCRATIC AND EXPECT THINGS TO CHANGE. If you notice all cities with the democratic party in charge in the U.S. has the same problems. Start with New Haven, Hamden, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, they all have the same problems. Welfare, union legacy costs, taxation, North Haven seems to be run better, must check that out. Don't know if that is a democrat or not.

Beth there is so much abuse in this town it is ridiculous. How about getting stopped for seat beltRead More violations when most of the police do not wear them, or when they use cell phones instead of hands free devices. Could go on and on but who cares it will change NOTHING.
