The awards will be given at the 36th annual dinner scheduled for April 10 at the Stamford Hilton Hotel.

“Linda McMahon has shown tremendous leadership, both as a candidate herself and as a tireless advocate for Republicans at all levels of local, state and federal government,” Connecticut GOP Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. said in a statement.

Former Greenwich Republican Town Committee Chair Edward Dadakis, who has served on the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting since 1979 and is a member of the State Central Committee, will receive the Fenton Futtner Award.

“Each year, the Fenton “Pat” Futtner Award recognizes exceptional, longtime service to our Party by one of its unsung heroes,” said LaBriola.

Dadakis first became involved in politics while a high school student. He went on to serve as the UConn coordinator for the re-election of both President Gerald Ford and U.S. Sen. Lowell Weicker.

Since then, he has been involved with numerous campaigns in Greenwich as well as serving as Greenwich Coordinator for the campaigns of President Bush and Congressman Christopher Shays.

“Mayor Stewart is truly a rising star in the Republican Party,” LaBriola said. “At just 26 years-old, her dedication and hard work overcame a 6-to-1 Democrat advantage to propel her to the Mayor’s office in the city she loves. Already, her leadership has been an inspiration to Republicans across the state as she works towards moving New Britain forward.”
