Quinnipiac's Student Athletes Bring Holiday Cheer to Hamden Youth Services

The QU athletes provided Hamden kids with Santa, presents and fun.

The Quinnipiac University Student Athlete Advisory Committee recently visited the Keefe Community Center to deliver toys and books to children at Hamden Youth Services.

The children, ages three to five, enjoyed laughs, smiles and presents from Santa Claus with the Bobcat student-athletes.

Quinnipiac’s student-athletes read to the children and then sang a variety of holiday songs. After that, Santa Claus visited the center and began distributing gifts to everyone as the children eagerly ripped away the wrapping paper to see their presents. The student-athletes helped out with clean up and assisted the kids with their new toys.

The visit was coordinated by Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator Tracey Flynn, with the help of graduate assistant, and former women's ice hockey student-athlete Breann Frykas.

Student-athletes involved in the event included Christin Rochester (acrobatics & tumbling), Greg Pendergast (men's lacrosse), Stephanie Palange (acrobatics & tumbling), Katie Alfiere (softball), Chris Kendall (men's lacrosse), Melissa Condo (women's rugby), Bonnie Conklin (women's volleyball), Zach Friedenreich (men's soccer), Borja Angoitia (men's soccer), Jessica Rotell (women's golf), Jennifer Whaley (women's golf), Scott Donaghue (baseball) and Savanna Reilly (field hockey).
