Rescued Horse Auction Saturday

Ten horses rescued by the state are now healthy and ready for new homes.

 

The University of Connecticut horse auction on Saturday at the Storrs campus will include 10 rehabilitated horses that were seized by the state for neglect.

The rescued animals have been brought back to health at the Department of Agriculture's Second Chance Large Animal Rehabilitation Facility in Niantic.

The horse in the auction have been at the rescue barn for some time and are completely rehabilitated and have current vaccinations, the auction notice states. Records for the horses are available at the auction.

The state's equine rescue program places the horses in the auction
"to find buyers who can provide a good safe home for horses that have been removed from previous owner's possession due to neglect," the state Ag department notes.

The auction catalog can be viewed on line. The preview begins at 11 a.m. with the auction starting at 1 p.m.
