Hamden Silverbells Festival is Saturday

The annual holiday celebration will take place Dec. 1.

 

Town Center Park will be filled with holiday lights and community merrymaking on Sat. Dec. 1 from 2 - 6 p.m.  for Hamden's Silverbells Celebration. 

The event will include a puppet show, carousel rides, hayrides, crafts, letters to Santa, caroling, treeligthing and Santa's arrival by firetruck.  All events except for the puppet show are free, and the raindate for the outdoor activities is the next day, Sunday, Dec. 2.

Some festivities will take place in the Miller Cultural Center, 2901 Dixwell Ave. These are:

  • 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.: Face Painting at Miller Library
  • 2:30 p.m.: Puppet show: "The Snow Maiden" by Purple Rock Productions.  Admission is $2 children/$3 adults.

  • 2 - 4:30 p.m.: Hayrides
  • 2 - 6 p.m.: Carousel Rides, Holiday Crafts, button-making, face painting and letters to Santa.
  • 3:45 p.m.: Caroling with the Hamden Girl Scouts
  • 4:15 p.m.: Community caroling and tree ligthing ceremony, with Hamden elementary school singers.
  • 4:30 p.m.: Santa's arrival by fire truck and visits with Santa 

The event is presented by Hamden's Arts, Recreation and Culture Department. Please bring an unwrapped toy for the Hamden Kids Holiday Toy Drive. In case of heavy rain or snow, outdoor activities will be postponed to Dec. 2 ; indoor activities can only be held on Dec. 1 .
