Spring Leaf Collections Starting Soon

Put bags out by April 23 to assure pickup.

The annual spring leaf and brush collection begins this month and runs through mid-May.

Leaf and brush collection will begin Saturday, April 23 and continue through Friday, May 20. All bagged leaves and bundled brush must be out by April 23 to guarantee pick-up.

As with all spring leaf pickups, only one sweep will be made through the Town. Bags put out after trucks have passed will not be picked up.

Trucks will begin pickups in southern Hamden on Saturday, April 23.

Leaves must be placed in paper bags (not plastic) and brush must be bundled and tied with string or twine. Bundles should weigh no more than 50 lbs, exceed no more than four feet in length and contain no pieces in excess of four inches diameter.

Bundled brush and bagged leaves should be placed curbside separate of each other and away from April bulk pickup items. No items should be placed in the street or in any way block a sidewalk. Disposal of root systems, grass clippings and soil are prohibited.

Leaves cannot be picked up from private roads or from roads that have not been accepted into the town road system. Residents on unaccepted and private roads may bring leaves to the Transfer Station during normal hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as 7:30 am – 3 p.m. on both Saturday, April 23 and Saturday, April 30. Elderly and disabled residents may be eligible for assistance.
