The Week in Review: Distraction Burglary, QU Issues

Here are some of the most interesting stories from the last week on Hamden Patch:

— Hamden Police sent out a warning to residents this week after a 93-year-old woman was robbed by two men who set up a "distraction burglary" — one man distracted the woman while the other robbed the house.

— An attorney representing Quinnipiac University told the Planning and Zoning Commission this week that the school acknowledges the problems some students who live off-campus have been causing in neighborhoods and is working to bring the students back into campus housing.

— State Speaker of the House and Hamden Rep. Brendan Sharkey spoke to the Dunbar Hill Civic Association this week about his first year in that seat and admitted it's been "tough."

— In response to the backlash from the arrests of almost two dozen students earlier this month, a Quinnipiac University graduate wrote that residents should judge all students by the bad actions of a few.

— Hamden Police asked the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly shoplifted sushi he was eating throughout the store and then assaulted a security officer who tried to get him to stop.
