This Week in Hamden: Green Dragons Take on Cheshire Friday

Here's some of the things going on this week in Hamden, including a mayoral debate and football vs. Cheshire.

Today is Monday, Oct. 14 and here's what's going on this week:

— Today is Columbus Day, a federal holiday. Town government offices and schools are closed and there is no mail delivery. Many banks also are closed. Retail stores are generally open. The holiday does not affect the garbage pickup

— The League of Women Voters of Hamden and North Haven and the Hamden Land Conservation Trust will co-sponsor a debate on open space in Hamden on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Thornton Wilder Hall at the Miller Library Complex.  The debate will center on uses and plans for open space, as well as environmental concerns in Hamden.  Questions have been submitted by neighborhood associations throughout Hamden. It's free and open to the public.

— The Hamden High School Green Dragons lost to Wilbur Cross on Friday by a score of 33-7. They're now 3-2 on the season and will be at Cheshire High School Friday for a 7 p.m. start. Cheshire is 2-3 on the season.

The Hamden Historic Properties Commission meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the Zoning Board of Appeals meets Thursday at 7 p.m., both at Hamden Government Center.
