Water, Water Everywhere

Three inches of rain overnight leads to headaches this morning.

Promises of flooding as a result of Sunday's rainstorm came to pass Monday as roads across the state filled with water, and Hamden was no exception.

While the town didn't experience the problems other areas did, such as the Naugatuck Valley, where there were reports of cars floating down the Housatonic River, there were road closures and countless basements flooded.

Police closed off Mount Carmel Avenue Monday morning after water from the Mill River spilled over the road, forcing Quinnipiac University students to use alternate routes to get to school.

But down on New Road, while the water stayed off the road, it didn't stay within the boundaries of the lake that runs along side the street.
