Who Needs Help, and Who is Willing to Help?

Do you want to volunteer to help with Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts? Do you need help cleaning up or know someone who does? Connect with each other here.

Here at Patch, an integral part of our mission is to connect local volunteers with local volunteer opportunities. In fact, each editor receives five paid days a year to volunteer in their community.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, there's plenty of folks who need help out there ... perhaps an elderly neighbor needs help cleaning up his yard, or a local shelter needs staffers, or an environmental group needs extra pairs of hands to remove debris and seaweed from the ravaged beaches.

So we'd like to provide this space for you to give a shout out in the comments if you're looking for a way to help or you know someone or some group that needs help cleaning up after Sandy. Groups who are doing clean-up or outreach, let people know. If you want to volunteer, tell us about any special skills or equipment you have (got a chainsaw?).

One reminder: Don't put sensitive information such as addresses and phone numbers in the comments unless you're comfortable with it being public.
