Woman’s Search for Yelling Child Turns for the Birds in Fairfield

A talking parrot was found near Holland Hill School.

Repeated calls for “daddy” outside Holland Hill School on Wednesday led one woman to look for a child in distress.

But her search soon turned to the sky, as a large green parrot was calling for “daddy” from the trees, according to CTPost.com.

The Fairfield Fire Department responded to a call at 5:01 p.m., according to Assistant Chief Chris Tracy. He said the parrot was about 25 feet up a pine tree.

Animal control caught the parrot and brought it to the shelter. CTPost reported the bird was talking nonstop, saying “daddy,” “hello” and “what.”

Tracy said the situation was treated as a routine animal control assist, and the incident wrapped up in about 15 minutes.

The parrot was later returned to its home and its daddy, about one mile from the school.
