Grab & Go Kids Planner

Patch has some ideas for things to do with the kids this weekend.

1.   Family

  • Friday, 6 p.m.
  •  Enjoy a free movie, popcorn and juice at this event cosponsored by Hamden's Community Services, Youth Services, Recreation Department and Arts Commission at the M. L. Keefe Community Center.
  • Participate in a family craft project from 6 - 6:45 pm, hosted by the Eli Whitney Museum.
  • Tonight's movie is Ramona and Beezus.  Free.

 

2.  Take a Family Bird Walk

  •  Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • The sponsors a free walk for families that focuses on the birds and wildlife found in East Rock Park.
  • Walk begins at the covered bridge by the parking lot next to the Eli Whitney Museum.  Bring binoculars, and wear warm clothes and boots. Free.

 

3.   Painting Class for Kids at

  • Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Intro to Painting. Students will explore different painting techniques and mediums, including Acrylic and Watercolors. Color theory will be introduced to the class. Ages 10 to 12.
  • This was a 9 week course ending March 12 so $135 fee will be prorated for late signups.

 

4.    Ice Skating at the

  • Sunday 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • A great family activity for Sunday afternoon.  $5 skating/$5 rental

 

5.   Friday Night Hockey

  • Friday, 8 p.m. at Bennett Rink, West Haven.
  •  The 6th annual Game. Former Hamden and West Haven high school players from the 1960s - 90s will play in a benefit for the American Cancer Society and Parkinson's disease research in memory of coaches Art Crouse of West Haven and Lou Astorino of Hamden.
  •  $5 donation; kids under 12 free
