Hamden to Host 'Playing for the Cure: Brainstormin' Music Festival

Concert set for Aug. 15, will benefit brain tumor research at Yale Brain Tumor Center.

Hamden will host a group of local bands comprised of musicians from the Greater New Haven area to raise money for brain tumor and brain cancer research at the Yale Brain Tumor Center.

The concert, "Playing for the Cure: Brainstormin'" will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, at the Ballroom at The Outer Space in Hamden.

The concert is organized by Stephen Cusano, who told the New Haven Register, "In 2008, my brother was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor sitting deep within his ventricular system. The medical staff at Yale could not understand how he was functioning, let alone having just completed one year of law school. After four open brain operations and one stereotactic-radio surgery, my brother is now free of the tumor that almost took his life. My family and I are committed to finding the cure and helping those who are less fortunate."

To donate, make checks payable to Musicians of North Haven and mailed to 2 Pez Court, North Haven, CT 06473. Cusano told the Register that a trade name certificate was filed with North Haven on May 8, 2012, and all donations will be held in escrow until the proceeds from the event are presented to the Yale Brain Tumor Center.

For more information, email Cusano at drums7983@gmail.com or call Anthony Cusano at 203-209-9800.
