The Hamden Arts Commission continues its 2013 -2014 Peter C. Hereld Sunday Performance Series on Jan. 12 , at 2 p.m., when Linda Ipanema and the Dixie Cats will make their Hamden debut with "Join the Jubilee: Celebrating Dixieland."
This foot-tapping, finger-snapping revue stars Ms. Ipanema, a musical comedy stage veteran. She has performed in major clubs around the country; has appeared in films ("A Bronx Tale"), on television (Law and Order) and for two years was the opening act for comedian Ray Romano. She sings, dances and wisecracks her way into the hearts of audiences.
Her band features some of the finest Dixieland musicians from New York, and will performsuch popular tunes as "Cakewalk Babies, " "Ball in the Jack," and "This Joint is Jumpin’."
The event will be held in the handicapped-accessible Thornton Wilder Hall, Miller Cultural Complex, 2901 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Admission is $7 general admission/ $5 for senior citizens, students and children 12 and under. Tickets are sold at the door only.
