Business Spotlight: Two New Businesses Call Hamden Home

Hamden Dental Care will open on Dixwell Avenue in the Highwood Square mixed-use property, and Campus Customes is relocating to Hamden on Sherman Avenue.

 

Mayor Scott D. Jackson and Economic and Community Development Director Dale Kroop have announced two new Business Incentive Program packages designed to assist local business expansion that are expected to go before the Legislative Council.

After receiving unanimous consent from the Hamden Economic Development Commission, the packages for Hamden Dental Care and Campus Customs Clothing Company are now before the Legislative Council for review and approval.

Hamden Dental Care will be located at 953 Dixwell Ave. in the currently vacant Highwood Square mixed-use property. It will receive a $4,000 grant towards their $130,000 rehabilitation project.

Campus Customs, a business recently relocated to Hamden, will receive a $3,000 grant towards their $80,000 plans to expand operations at 1010 Sherman Ave. The expansion plans include adding a retail storefront as well as a coffee shop to their existing production site.

“The Business Incentive Program has shown proven success recently both with helping current business expand, and to lure new business into Hamden,” Jackson said. “Hamden works hard to be business friendly - it not only allows us to increase our tax base, but add vibrancy and employment opportunities to our community.”
