A Bristol-based gun manufacturing company, PTR Industries, said it plans on relocating from Connecticut to another firearm-friendly state.

In a statement posted on its website, PTR said Connecticut’s new gun legislation — noted by many as some of the strictest in the nation — was the reason for wanting to move out of the state.

“Along with other companies in the trade, we were deeply apprehensive at the hurried process to develop new gun laws and fearful that it would generate unintended consequences for our industry,” PTR Vice President John McNamara wrote on the company’s website.

The company, which makes a series of semi-automatic rifles, said it hasn’t decided on a specific location to move to although it is actively considering offers from other states. They said a decision should be made within the next six weeks. PTR employs 40 people, the Associated Press reported.
