Ring In Spring with Hamden's Restaurant Week

Culinary Event Taking Place from April 25-May 1

After achieving success this past September, Hamden's restaurant week will return for a spring session next week that includes the participation of 16 restaurants throughout the town.

For local residents, the event provides a chance to experience fine Hamden dining at discounted prices, while also promoting the support of local businesses.

"The diversity of Hamden's restaurants really speaks for itself, but this week is an affordable way to try something new in town, and really experience everything that it has to offer," Hamden Chamber of Commerce president Nancy Dudchik said.

In addition to offering specials on prix fixe meals, the weeklong event aims to attract visitors and residents of neighboring towns as the Chamber of Commerce looks to build economic momentum heading into the summer.

"It's a good week overall, it's something different and fun that attracts many town residents," said Kevin Fitzsimmons, manager of Eli's Restaurant on Whitney Ave.

Last fall's inaugural restaurant week was met with rave reviews from business owners and citizens alike, prompting the Chamber of Commerce to bring back the festivities earlier than expected. The website for the event, www.hamdenrestaurantweek.com, garnered over 10,000 hits according to Dudchik, and there's also a Facebook fan page which has over 300 followers.

"Hamden restaurant week is positive for the town, we see a good amount of people come out and it really provides a boost to the economy," Stephen Barraco, co-owner of Cafe Amici said.

All of the restaurants involved in the event will offer specials on both lunch and dinner items, as well as some buy one-get one deals.
