VISION FOR VACANCIES: The former Toys R Us in the Hamden Mart

It's been empty for a while now...what would you like to see go in that space?

It's been about four years since Toys R Us abandoned its spot in the Hamden Mart and moved over to Universal Drive in North Haven.

Since then, seasonal stores -- most notabley, Halloween stores -- pop up seasonable, staying for several weeks and then disappearing.

Meanwhile, the large empty store at the end of north end of the Hamden Mart remains empty. It's a big space that probably could be divided up into several spaces, or could accomodate a larger business.

Some suggestions we have heard as to what could occupy the space is a Whole Foods Store, another children's toy store, a higher-scale type store like Neiman Marcus, or even a movie theater.

What would you like to see go in there?
