at 323 Washington Ave. in North Haven has been a fixture since 1956 in various locations.
Originally started by Joseph Abate Sr., the younger Joseph Abate has continued the restaurant tradition. Their theme is:”Back to the Future, Remembering the 60’s," and their interior décor brings memories of times long past. A black and white tiled floor, with red leather booths and white top tables transcends you back into the 60's. Their dining room sports a 1960’s soda machine and juke box.
Their menu has an impressive selection of foods to choose from. Appetizers consist of Broccoli Rabe with Sausage or Escarole with Beans and toasted Bread (Pane Cotta), and many others to choose from. Also try a soup, salad or hot or cold sub made with traditional Italian flavors.
Pasta dishes include real Italian ingredients -- sample a meal of Baked Cheese Ravioli topped with Mozzarella or a time-honored dinner of Pasta topped with Sauce and Meatballs or Sausage. Order a Pizza with a wide range of toppings to decide from. One of Luigi’s specialty pizzas is Artichoke Delight or the Bomb.
They have recently started offering wraps, flavors are plain or sundried tomato. Fill them with steak and cheese, Buffalo Chicken or cheese burger to delight your mouth.
Luigi’s offers Whole wheat pizza and gluten free pizza and beer. Come join them on Cruise Night, Sept. 11, from 5:30 -8:30 p.m., with a 50/50 raffle and music.
Luigi’s Apizza Restaurant can comfortable seats 50 in their dining room. A take out and catering menu is available as well as delivery. Lunch specials are available daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are closed Monday’s, opened Tuesday – Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m..
There is ample parking available in their lot. Luigi’s is a family friendly restaurant with a casual atmosphere.
Luigi’s will be participating in the 2nd annual Hamden/North Haven Pizza Expo benefit to end Alzheimer’s, on Sept. 17 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Atria Larson Place, 1450 Whitney Ave. Admission is $10.
