Bobcat Spotted in Milford; Diner's Closure Comes as Surprise; and More

"The Towns Around Us' takes a look at what's making headlines in neighboring communities.

CHESHIRE – The town is looking to bond $30 million to pay for an upgrade to its wastewater treatment facility.

Experts say the equipment at the facility, which processes wastewater from 5,000 customers, has outlasted its life expectancy. Not upgrading the facility would be like playing "Russian Roulette," one official said.

The request to fund the project will be included in the town’s capital budget, which will be subject to voter approval in November.

More details are available on Cheshire Patch.

MILFORD – Last week it was a calf on the loose. Now, there’s a bobcat roaming through town, according to a photograph taken by a Herbert Street resident.

Milford Patch has the photo and more information on this sighting.

BRANFORD – Eight-year-old Camdyn Dunn doesn’t let cancer get in the way of doing the things she loves, like hanging out with her friends and family and eating French fries and a cheeseburgers from Wendy’s.

One day each week Camdyn undergoes chemotherapy, and her mom, Rachel, is always by her side. The two welcomed Branford Patch into one of the chemo sessions, and shared what their experience with cancer is like in this video.

ORANGE – Orange Family Diner customers were shocked when they showed up on July 21 and found that the place was closed, for good.

Without notice and explanation, the popular Post Road establishment shut down Thursday night, less than a year after opening.

Some speculate the diner closed due to financial difficulties, according to this Orange Patch article.
