Popular meteorologist and Hamden resident Geoff Fox has been let go from his job at WTIC, according to the Hartford Courant, which is owned by the same parent company as the television station.

Hamden resident and former WTNH meteorologist Geoff Fox has been let go from Fox station WTIC, according to the Hartford Courant. Both the Courant the WTIC are owned by the Tribune Co.

According to the Courant, Fox was fired for "inappropriate conduct," but the station refused to elaborate what led to the dismissal.

WTIC hired Fox shortly after WTNH let him go in January 2011. His firing from long-time employer Channel 8 was followed by a firestorm of protests and a massive internet campaign, mostly carried out on Facebook, condemning the New Haven television station for letting him go and urging the Hartford station to pick him up.

So far, Fox has made no comment about his firing. His blog has no mention of it and his facebook page is no longer publicly visible.

First Hostess is gone and now Geoff Fox (again)! Fox is my favorite weather person and I enjoyed his science section. A sad day. I wonder what went wrong..

Well this is a surprise. Hard to imagine him doing anything too inappropriate but I guess you never really know.

He must have been hitting on Rachel behind the scenes late Thursday night (or Audry or Allison, I don't blame him, I wouldn't last six months with those hotties)

No shock, after listening to him during the summer try to calm down the hype about a line of thunderstorms that was clearly fizzling. Some other clown was clearly looking at Fox like... are you crazy ? we interupted primetime to go live with all the other weather hyping stations, now talk about the rotation somemore [ that had ended] Without him and Dr Mel News 8's a waste... And now so is Fox 61

Oh, no!!! Say it ain't so. Geoff is the best weather person who can explain the facts to the rest of us without being patronizing. How can Fox CT say "inappropriate conduct" without being more specific? This is terrible news.

Bye Geoff

Gee, I've been watching Fox 61 news specifically to see Geoff. Guess I'll go back to WFSB. I hate to think that he did anything immoral or unethical; I'll reserve judgement until more details are known.

Sorry to read about news like that. Geoff Fox is an outstanding weatherman. Aning with the others at Channel 8. They made it a special station to watch. We miss both Geoff and Dr. Mel. Remember we do not know what happened. There are usually two sides to every story. We wish Geoff and his family Well at this difficult time. Tom and Helen Geirin Hamden

Something is amiss here and I hope that rather than take the "shoot first and then see what the facts are," that Fox news did their due dillegence before acting the way that they did. There are always two sides to a story and I really believe that there is more to this and the motivation/action that was taken against Geoff Fox. Best wishes to Geoff and his family. I'm not passing judgment there are no facts to base an opinion. I hope the basis for this is not because he had a valid medical condition and had surgery as well as "peer" issues with his air time and popularity. Well, it's off to another station, there are only 2 more in the state...wait, there is channel 12 - 3 more in the State!

That hype from other channels about storms that fizzled were part of what created sense of "ride it out" when Hurricane Sandy came. So many other weather people cried wolf so often that I think after a while it went in one ear and out the other. They should be ashamed! Geoff rarely if ever amped up the alarm unless it was warranted.

There's NYC channels!!! :)

Yeah I watched Geoff on 8 & 6 ,I think he is a good meteroligist who cares what what.he does in his private life as long as he does his job , it is a sort of discrimination when a person is fired for doing something that is private !!!! Geoff is ok !!
John November 21, 2012 at 03:12 PM
In who's opinion was Geoff's contuct 'inappropriate'? You guys have the audacity to broadcast the local and national news and along with the other crap you televise all day and then make no appology! Does anyone there look at the stuff you put on the cable. Let they who are without sin cast the first stone!

We miss you Geoff. I hope you never let anyone drag you down..... Take a while to rest your back.... After all, you weren't on channel 8 because they didn't like you.....all places of work have insecure people that try to get people fired.... <3
