There's once again no school for Hamden student on Wednesday as school officials have cancelled school once again because of poor road conditions.
Students have been out of school since last Thursday, the day before the storm dumped 40" of snow on Hamden, the hardest hit municipality in the state.
This message was posted this afternoon on the Hamden Public Schools website:
Due to continued poor road conditions, all Hamden Public Schools and Adult Education will remain closed on Wednesday. February 13, 2013. Clerical, Administrative Staff, Maintenance and Custodians should report to work.
The National Guard has been called in to town and the state has allocated additional equipment to aid the Hamden Public Works Department, which has been working non-stop to clear the roads using front loaders. The snow is so deep that it's impossible to use just plow trucks to do the job.
Town officials have estimated that 90 percent of town roads will be at least passable by midnight tonight and 99 percent by Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone who is still stranded and needs to get out for medical appointments or other emergencies can call the town's Emergency Center at 203-230-4000 for help.
