The National Guard has been called in to town and the state has allocated additional equipment to aid the Hamden Public Works Department, which has been working non-stop to clear the roads using front loaders. The snow is so deep that it's impossible to use just plow trucks to do the job.

Town officials have estimated that 90 percent of town roads will be at least passable by midnight tonight and 99 percent by Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone who is still stranded and needs to get out for medical appointments or other emergencies can call the town's Emergency Center at 203-230-4000 for help.
