Hamden Rec Department Offers Summer Programs

No excuse for the kids to be bored this summer — the Hamden Recreation Department has something for everyone.

 

For parents looking for all-day summer fun for children ages 3 ½ to 15 look no further than the Town of Hamden, with the best programs and prices in town!

Most camp sites are located in a climate controlled schools. Munchkin/Rascal,Green Dragons, Drifters & Extreme camp begins July 1 and run through August 2. Structured programming for daily in-house activities may include swimming, arts & crafts, Theme Days, tournament, off-site field trips, entertainment & outdoor activities.

Munchkin/Rascal & Green Dragons Camps for Session 1, (3 weeks) July 1 to July 19, (no camp July 4): Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $325, April 22 to May 31 is $335, June 1 and later, $345. Session 2, (2 weeks) runs July 22 to Aug. 2. Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $240, April 22 to May 31 is $250, June 1 and later, $260. Camp runs from 8:30 am – 3 p.m. daily. Extended day available for additional fee, times 7:30-8:30 a.m. and/or 3 to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per week.

Drifter's Camp - Session 1, (3 weeks) July 1 to July 19, (no camp July 4) Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $435, April 22 to May 31 is $445, June 1 and later, $455. Session 2, (2 weeks) runs July 22 to Aug. 2. Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $320, April 22 to May 31 is $330, June 1 and later $340.

Extreme Camp - Session 1 (3 weeks) July 1 to July 19, (no camp July 4) Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $665, April 22 to May 31 is $700, June 1 and later $735. Session #2, (2 weeks) runs July 22 Aug. 2. Early registration rate from April 2 to April 19 is $475, April 22 to May 31 is $510, June 1 and later $545.

Mad Science Programs - ½ day programs, 9 a.m. – Noon, cost per person is $145/$175. Programs are held at Hamden High School, 2040 Dixwell Ave. Resident & non-residents are welcomed. Location/times, Hamden High School, 9 AM - noon.

Invention-ation - July 1 to July 5 for students in grades 1st - 5th ($145) (No program July 4.)

Crazy Chemworks- Aug. 5 to Aug. 9, students in grades 1st-5th ($175)

Also available: Play-Well TeK (LEGO® ) program: Let your imagination run wild with more than 100,000 pieces of LEGO®. Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars. Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Date: July 22 to July 26 and Aug. 5  Aug. 9 Grades K-2, 9 a.m. to noon, Grades 3 to 5, 1 to 4 p.m., cost $130 per session, Location Hamden Middle School.

The Whitney Players Theater Company will be offering a fun filled experience which will include all aspects of theater including music, dance, acting, theater games, improv, costuming & set design and will culminate with a production of “Wonka Jr” on Sat. July 13 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. For ages 6 – 14, dates July 1 – July 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., cost $525.00
