The parade will be held on Monday, May 28, stepping off at 10 a.m. at Hamden
High School and continuing north along Dixwell Avenue to the Memorial Town Hall. The parade will be reviewed on Dixwell Avenue near Evergreen Avenue. Following the parade there will be a wreath ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in front of Hamden Middle School.

After the invocation, Mayor Jackson and the Parade Marshals will speak and wreaths will be placed at the memorial.

Current members of the Armed Forces are urged to take part in the parade. To march, call the Mayor’s Office at 287-7100.

The parade serves as a tribute to the deeds of Hamden veterans and a source of pride to its citizens. Convertibles are needed to drive veterans down the parade route.

Prior to the parade on May 28th, the Jewish War Veterans Post 204 will hold a Memorial Day Service at Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Ave., and a Memorial Day Mass followed by refreshments will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 782 Dixwell Ave., at 8:00 a.m.

Many bands and local organizations are planning to participate. Groups
interested in marching should contact Gerry Tobin in the Mayor’s Office at 203-287-7100.

Hamden’s veterans organizations, with the help of Students from ACES, Hamden Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, will be placing American flags on the graves of veterans as part of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

This was made possible with the help of Beecher and Bennett Funeral Service,
Howard K. Hill Funeral Service, Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, and Peter H. Torello &
Son, in partnership with the Hamden Veterans’ Commission.

If your veteran’s grave does not have a flag by May 26th, stop by and pick one up at the above sponsors or at Mayor Jackson’s Office in the Government Center.
