It's a Good Week for Eating Out

Hamden's fall version of Restaurant Week is here.

Is there a Hamden restaurant you've been thinking of checking out but haven't gotten the chance?

This week would be a good time to do that. It's the Hamden Chamber of Commerce Restaurant Week, where restaurants offer great deals on lunches and dinners to give customers the opportunity to try out places they might have never tried before.

Restaurant Week runs Monday, Sept. 17 through Sunday Sept. 23.Restaurants all over town will be featuring either a buy one get one option or three-course prix fixe menu consisting of an appetizer, entre and dessert. Prix fixe menus will be priced at $12 for lunch and $20 for dinner.

Participating restaurants include:

"This is our first year actually. We wanted to start last year but by the time we found out about it, it was too late," said Stella and Rena from Sergios Restaurant, which is part of Restaurant Week for the first time this year.

"We actually had wondered why no one tried to contact us in the past years, but anyway, we are very excited about participating," they said. "We are hoping to gain new customers of course, but also reward our "regulars" with a great price and excellent food and atmosphere.

"We think this is a great idea for our town because so many people think they need to go to, for example, New Haven, to find authentic italian when they have it right in their home town!

"It's an excellent way to draw a new crowd in," they said, "and reward the locals of course:)"

"We love the opportunity Restaurant Week provides to get us out there to a larger audience," said Cheryl and Milton from DeMils on Whitney. "It's a way of advertising that is cost effective for our return, and also it's the Chamber's way of raising funds for all the work they do, and they have been instrumental in our success."

"The Chamber does a lot to promote Restaurant Week and it makes people from other surrounding towns aware that there are many great Restaurants in Hamden and it puts Hamden on the dining map," said Eamonn Ryan of the Playwright.

"It promotes the Restaurant Week and town to its many visitors also," he said. "Playwright has always been part of Hamden Restaurant week and we serve a three-course lunch for $12 and Dinner for $20.

"We look forward to this great week every year," he said, "and as always, free parking in Hamden."

while receiving Staples Rewards does help defray the cost of supplies for the teachers, they areRead More STILL putting cash out of their own pockets! This should not be. But Kudos to the teachers who put their students above their own financial situation. The Town and parents should be footing the costs, not the teachers.
