New Fees Will Pay for Transfer Station Operation Costs

Public Works Director Craig Cesare said it costs $500,000 a year to run the transfer station on Wintergreen Avenue.

According to an article by the New Haven Register, Public Works Director Craig Cesare said it costs $500,000 a year to run the transfer station on Wintergreen Avenue. The new fees will recover that cost, he said.

Residents could still dispose of old appliances, tires, furniture and other bulky waste items for free by taking advantage of the town’s curbside pickups in April and October.

Town officials say the new fees will take effect soon, but no date has been reported.
