Sliverbells Festival and Tree Lighting Saturday

Santa's due to arrive via firetruck.

The Hamden Arts, Recreation and Culture Department will hosts its annual Silverbells Festival Dec. 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Town Center Park and the Miller Memorial Library.

Town Center Park will be filled with holiday lights and and community merrymaking: carousel rides, hayrides, crafts, caroling, tree lighting and Santa's arrival by firetruck.

Attendees are asked to bring one unwrapped toy for the Hamden Kids Holiday Toy Drive.

Holiday festivities at the Miller Cultural Center, 2901 Dixwell Ave: 

2-4 p.m.: Face Painting at Miller Memorial Library

2:30 p.m.: "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," presented by the Robert Rogers Puppet Theater. $2 for children, $3 for adults at the door.

Holiday festivities at Town Center Park, 2761 Dixwell Ave.:

2-4:30 p.m.: Hayrides

2-6 p.m. Carousel Rides, Holiday Crafts, Letter to Santa, button-making, face painting, free cider and munchies.

3:45 p.m.: Caroling with the Hamden Girl Scouts.

4:15 p.m.: Caroling and Tree Lighting Ceremony

4:30 p.m.: Santa arrives and visits with children.

In case of rain or snow, outdoor activities postponed until Dec. 4, indoor activities will proceed as planned.
