Snow in the Forecast for Late Tuesday & Early Wednesday

Hope you didn't get too used to the warmer temperatures. The National Weather Service forecast is calling for snow. Read on to see how much accumulation is expected.

 

Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 15 and 16. The National Weather Service is calling for a hazardous weather outlook for northern New Haven County, mainly in the form of snow with sleet and freezing rain mixed in, beginning late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

"Low pressure passing to the south will spread wintery precititation into the area Tuesday night into Wednesday," according to the NWS, "mostly in the form of snow, but with some sleet and freezing rain mixed in the beginning late Tuesday night, especially closer to the coast.

"While expected snow and ice amounts do not currently meet National Weather Service warning criteria... there is a chance that more significant snowfall could occur during this time," the NWS stated.

  • Snow on Tuesday night, mainly after 1am. Low around 31. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Wednesday: Snow and sleet before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm. High near 39. Light and variable wind becoming northeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
