Good Food at a Good Price

Sono Bana Japanese Restaurant, formerly Hama, located on 1206 Dixwell Ave., has been part of the Hamden scene since 1986.

Upon entering, its casual Japanese motif, will invite any hungry visitor to come in and sit down. The quiet light blue walls compliment the Bamboo booth décor to make any visit calming and enjoyable. Origami folded napkins completes the authentic atmosphere.

Sono Bana was voted to have the best sushi by the Yale (University) Herald in 2010. It's a very popular place for students from surrounding college campuses to get what is considered both the best sushi and the best value in the New Haven area. They were voted the best Japanese restaurant by the New Haven Advocate Readers’ Poll for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005, and was honored in the Connecticut Magazine Readers’ Choice Poll.

Sono Bana offers a prix fixed menu special for eat-in only. A three course meal consisting of an appetizer, entrée and dessert of your choice served with soup and salad is offered for $20. If you are watching your pocket book, order from the lunch and dinner box menu for an economic treat, or choose from their list of more than 20 specialty rolls. They are always adding to their list be sure to call ahead to see what is new.

They offer Happy Hour everyday from 4:30 – 6 p.m., a little different then a regular offering of alcoholic drinks only. They offer a special of an appetizer and a sushi roll with your choice of wine, beer or Saki.

Order an entrée from the kitchen, lunch or dinner sized or a combination dinner for two to set an intimate mood or an air of a friendly meal. They offer free Tempura Ice Cream to celebrate a birthday.
