Beware of thunderstorms today.
The National Weather Service has issued a Thunderstorm Watch for New Haven and Fairfield counties through 10 p.m. Saturday, as well as warnings of hail and winds up to 50mph.
"Heavy downpours and gusty winds up to 50 mph are expected with this storm," the warning states. "Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter immediately."

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 9pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 9pm and 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog between 3am and 4am, then Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
