Clean Up Underway As Town Deals With Storm Aftermath

Almost 100 trees reportedly down because of Irene, thousands remain without power.

Town crews were at work early Monday morning clearing debris from town roads left in the aftermath of Irene.

Many roads were a sea of green, covered in the leaves blown off trees by the 50+MPH wind the storm brought.

By mid-Sunday afternoon, many roads in town were impassable due to trees down and thousands of residents -- as much as one-third of the town -- were without power as Public Works crews worked to clear the roads.

Many of the trees that were felled during the storm landed on power lines, causing both the power to go out and the road to be blocked.

Town officials are asking residents for their patience as crews work to restore power and clean up the mess.
