Board of Education: Democrat Chris Daur

Hamden Patch offered the candidates the opportunity to state their case for the voters. Here's what Democratic incumbent Board of Education candidate Chris Daur has to say.

I have always believed in public service and in my profession as a Civil Engineer, I have always felt an obligation to give back to the community.

Since moving to Hamden more than 15 years ago, I have served as PTA liaison to the Board of Ed., I have served as a resident expert on the School Building Committee, and more recently served on the Town Building Committee. In February of 2013 I was appointed to the Board of Education.

I am an active member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteer for the Sleeping Giant chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

In my tenure as a resident expert on the two building committees I have been able to help complete over $135 million worth of improvements in the town of Hamden. These projects include the new Middle School, the new Spring Glen School, the addition to the Bear Path Elementary School, the HVAC and Athletic Field upgrades to the High School, and the recent improvements to the Ridge Road School Elementary School.

I am a parent of four children: two Hamden High School graduates and two currently attending Hamden High School

I am an engineer, a builder, and a teacher. In my 30+ year career I have had the opportunity to teach many young engineers how to apply their schooling.

I am an advocate for strong math and science programs. I bring a unique set of skills to the Board of Education, and I ask for your vote.

Sincerely,

Christopher A. Daur, PE, LEED AP
