Board of Education: Republican Sue Greco

Hamden Patch offered the candidates the opportunity to state their case for the voters. Here's what Republican Board of Education candidate Sue Greco has to say.

My name is Sue Greco. I am running for the Hamden Board of Education. I have lived in Hamden for 35 years.

One of the main reasons I moved here in 1978 was the award winning reputation of the school system. At that time it was one of the best systems in the state. My child and countless other children have received an excellent education here in this community.

Sadly, the reputation of public education has changed dramatically over the years. I believe Hamden public education has lost its stellar reputation due to many factors, most of which stem from years of an inflated bureaucracy and poor vision.

I have worked in the public and private sectors for 30 years. I decided to run for Board of Education at this time because I was no longer able to stand by and watch this once lovely town deteriorate as others in Connecticut have done.

If I can make even a slight improvement in our school system and, therefore the community, it would be a great place to begin rebuilding.
