Legislative Council At-Large: Democrat Al Gorman

Part of a Patch series on the candidates running for office in Hamden this November.

Al Gorman is a 46 year resident currently serving as a six-term Legislative Council At-Large member.

I have chaired the Hamden Arts Commission and served on the Solid Waste and Recycling Commission. I have a positive record and have established a good working relationships because of my community involvement.

As a retired educator, I have the time to serve and will continue to exercise responsible leadership and work to maintain a government which is inclusive and listens to its citizens.

I am a member of the Town Building Committee, an active member of the Friends of Brooksvale Park and the West Woods Civic Association.  A graduate of Providence College with post-graduate degrees from SCSU, I am married with two children and a grandson. I've served as President of the Hamden Historical Society, Inc. since 1998 and co-authored Images of Hamden

I believe in economic growth, preservation of natural and cultural resources and fiscal accountability while maintaining community services. I will continue to work to promote a government which is open to compromise and acts honestly to secure a better Hamden.

I have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Haz Waste and the Rotary Club of Hamden.

At your service, Al Gorman
