Legislative Council At-Large: Republican Rosalie Cavanaugh

Candidates for office were offered the opportunity to submit a profile about themselves and why residents should vote for them. Republican Rosalie Cavanaugh is am running for Legislative Council At-Large.

My name is Rosalie Cavanaugh and I am running for council at large.
I am a life long resident of Hamden. I am married with two grown children and one grandchild.

I have worked 20 years in the corporate sector and several years in child and senior care. I firmly believe in financially supporting Hamden businesses before shopping outside of Hamden.

I have been a member of my civic association for 23 years as secretary and vice president. I am now co-chair of the Hamden Republican Town Committee.

Our town is experiencing a number of serious problems that need to be addressed by us the voters in this election, including the Woodin Street fence and sovereign boarder issue. For those of you not familiar with the issue it is a fence that goes along the perimeter of the former Springside housing in New Haven that backs up to Woodin St in Hamden.

The fence was installed by the town of Hamden at the request of all the residents who live in the area to prevent the vandals from coming across the boarder causing mayhem by breaking into their homes and cars. Now the City of New Haven wants Hamden to take down the fence so they can cut exits onto Woodin Street to relieve traffic congestion on Spring side Ave in New Haven.

Unfortunately, our currant administration is in favor of this plan even after hearing passionate pleas from the residents who will be directly affected by this action. This is not a neighborhood issue it is a town wide issue because if this is allowed to happen none of our sovereign boarders are protected. This could happen in your neighborhood too. We need leadership that protects its citizens and not that of a  neighboring town.

The other problem Hamden faces is our high taxes. Our taxes are out of control as well as our spending. The taxpayer can't  take anymore increases. Enough is enough!!!  Vote row A for a change in Hamden. Vote Rosalie Cavanaugh for council at large.
